La Manzanilla rocky beach

La Manzanilla beach changes appearance through the year but always seems to have some rocks. A few people remarked this is the most they have ever seen. I would have to agree.

Pedro's fish taco stand is back in business for the season. Fish and shrimp tacos to die for. Look right towards the lagoon as you reach the beach street.

From December to early March, migratory Humpack whales can be found mating and caring for their calves in Tenacatita Bay. Join us as we search for these gentle giants and all other wildlife that we can find. Binoculars, hydrophone, lifejackets and snack provided.

Pedro's Taco Truck

Nothing like a good fish taco and I just saw this post on the La Manzanilla message board. Gonna have to try them the next time in town. If you don't know the "Cocodrilario" is to your right just before the beach

For those of you who are new in town, or who haven't tried it yet, here is a photo I just took of Pedro and his Taco Truck down by the Cocodrilario. We just had the best fish tacos we have had in Mexico - freshly grilled Mahi on lovely soft tortillas with fresh creamy coleslaw and selection of Chipotle or Tamarindo salsas. Ricissimo!! Try them!

A mini-tsunami from the earthquake in Japan hits La Manzanilla. A larger wave goes over the ridge on the beach at the crocodile viewing area, less than a hundred meters from our house. It washed out the road, and the palapa huts of a couple of beach restaurants.

The ocean level rose dramatically and quickly, and it was hard to tell how big the wave would get. I went running to move my bicycle, which was in the path of the water. This was the largest of three waves, and occured at around 6:20 pm on March 11, 2011. At the end of the video, a Mexican friend tells me to go move my car from my house, to higher ground..... he thought the next wave could be even bigger, but this was the last large one
